The federal government shutdown can create worry, especially for families who rely on CalFresh (SNAP, EBT, or Food Stamps) and other nutrition programs. At this time, CalFresh and other nutrition benefits are still being issued, and families can continue using their EBT cards as usual. Public schools will continue to provide free and reduced-price breakfasts and lunches through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. The State of California and local partners are working closely with federal agencies to minimize any disruption in food assistance.
