East County Counseling, Juvenile Diversion Print E-mail

April 11, 2006

In January a young girl was arrested for fighting on her high school campus.  The police referred her to Harmonium's East County Juvenile Diversion Program.  Upon assessment with our juvenile diversion counselor, she had poor attendance at school, her grades were below C average, and she admitted to having anger management problems.   Since this was her first offense, she was placed on a juvenile diversion contract to attend counseling and increase her school performance.  She was referred to SABRE, (Structured Accountability and Behavior Response Education), an anger management and behavior modification group run by Harmonium.  By the end of March, this young girl completed SABRE, her grades and attendance have improved, and she is on track to graduate high school.
