Gage Elementary School Klassic Kids has started their own play restaurant, "Sky Bucks".

On Friday, January 29th Holly Drive PrimeTime celebrated Super Bowl XLIV.

Loma Portal Klassic Kids Lego League was represented in the California Lego League Competition this past weekend and they came back with a trophy!

In January, Harmonium's Prime Time staff took part in a training to learn about a Readers Theatre program to implement at their sites.

Peace Patrol has been a part of Lee PrimeTime for the last two years. This year's group has gone above and beyond their job duties.

Klassic Kids at Loma Portal have been raising funds for their special events. Every Wednesday all of the children at Loma Portal Elementary look forward to a special treat after school, "The Ice Cream Shop."

The little guys and gals from the Baker Employee's Children Center entertained with a show for the holidays!!

Loma Portal Klassic Kids had the great honor of touring aboard the Navy Ship The New Orleans LPD No. 18 at Naval Base San Diego on December 17th. The tour of the Landing Port Docking (LPD) Ship was conducted by Petty Officer Mario Valdez, a parent whose child attends Loma Portal Klassic Kids.

Students at Adams PrimeTime participated in the 3rd Annual Holiday cooking event.

Perkins PrimeTime put together a spine tingly THRILLER Performance with a group of energetic and dedicated students. They devoted many hours to practicing all the memorable dance moves that we all remember from the original music video.

On Friday November 13th, Epicentre held an open house for their 10th anniversary. The center welcomed community & civic leaders, former alumni, and friends of the Epicentre. The center was attractively decorated complete with an art exhibition and a nutritious & delicious buffet. Our Klassic Kids from Loma Portal took a field trip to Scripp's Birch Aquarium. Besides seeing the fish they also got to see the exhibits on using less water and energy, as part of our Nickelodeon Going Green Grant Program.

Harmonium has updated our phone system. Our location's main phone numbers that you call remain the same, but the previous 2 digit phone extensions have been converted to 3 digit extensions.

Epicentre will collaborate with Connect the Dots Entertainment Summer Camps providing Beats Enrichment instruction and information on how to book shows at Epicentre. The summer camps include vocal and performance training for children and youth ages 7-19.

Holly Drive PrimeTime was very excited to be chosen to participate in the 1^st Annual EvOLvE Beats, a friendly, fun school-to-school EvOLvE dance competition.

Our Bandini's PrimeTime Program, celebrated it's 3rd yearly Cinco de Mayo Party. Parents, students and staff got together to have a healthy Mexican feast with carne asada, beans, rice, salsa, tortillas and delicious Mexican deserts.

On Saturday May 16th, the San Ysidro "6 to 6" staff took part in the Dia De San Ysidro Centennial Celebration.

Mike Liston with Rhythms of Life is working with the Primetime children doing drumming "jam sessions".

Thirty eight young Sigma Chi Fraternity brothers came out to the Epicentre on Saturday  May 9th and pulled weeds, spread out mulch and cleaned up the area around the Epicentre and the islands surrounding the parking lot.

May 2009 - May is mental health month.  At Harmonium that means we have a unique opportunity to make sure that you know if your mental health needs are being met.  Mental health refers to wellness, the ability to experience a sense of well-being and security that makes every day new, exciting and exceptional.  Here are some tips to make sure you mental health remains strong.

5/8/09 – Harmonium Counselor, Dr. Gabriela Hirsch, presented a parenting workshop at Albert Einstein Academy Middle School on May 7th. The presentation was part of the schools “Parent University” program that provides monthly information forums for the parents of their students.

April 24, 2009 - In Celebration of National Volunteer Week 2009, April 19-25, Harmonium proudly acknowledged the unselfish dedication of time and talent of our Volunteers for Harmonium.

4/17/09 - On April 15 & 16, 2009, Dr. Gabriela Hirsch, from our Counseling West office, conducted six 90 minute presentations to eighth grade girls at a local Middle School. At the request of the school PTA, Gabriela designed a program to talk to middle school girls about sexuality, peer pressure and sexual behaviors. Her multimedia presentation used music & videos to engage the students while in the process of addressing serious and sensitive subject matter. After the presentation, a survey was given to the girls. You can see the impact the presentation had on the girls by reading some of their responses to the question “Will this presentation, in any way, affect your future decisions regarding sexual behavior?”  

3-13-09 - Kim Wagner, a Clinical Psychology Intern at our Counseling West location, appeared on the CW Channel 6 San Diego Living Show between 9:00 and 10:00 AM on Friday the 13th and talked about Superstitions and Phobias.

Children and parents packed the auditorium of Loma Portal to partake in learning about each others’ cultures and enjoy the foods of other lands. Parents, Grandparents, Siblings, and Teachers, attended the educational event that included traditional dress and dishes from the USA, Ethiopia, Mexico, Japan, China, Portugal, Vietnam, Ireland and Spain.

Tracy Wutzke, Harmonium’s Counseling Program Director appeared on San Diego Living on January 30th between 9-10 AM on CW Channel 6 to discuss Stress,  what causes it,  how it affects us and how to manage it.

Tracy Wutzke, our Counseling Division Program Director, appeared on The San Living Show on December 4th and 11th. During her two appearances, she talked about Holiday Blues, dealing with family during the holidays and gift giving strategies/dilemmas.

Our Harmonium In Nature Program conducted by the San Diego Audubon Society continues to introduce our PrimeTime children to the wonders of nature right in the backyard of some of our schools. Recently the children at Cadman Prime Time, where the program was first tested in the summer of 2007, took a hike through a local canyon to learn and explore.

On October 16th, Harmonium Children’s Program sites joined up with small towns and big cities across America for one of the most exciting Lights On After School rallies ever. This year, after school programs and supporters celebrated the 10th anniversary of the federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers after school initiative.

As part of the Hands on San Diego annual volunteer program, an art contest was held to find a drawing to place on T shirts worn by volunteers working on projects in September. We had children from Jerabek, Walker & Loma Portal Klassic Kids submit entries.

The Wells Fargo Foundation issued two $1000 grants to two Harmonium programs on June 12th at the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park.
